Position Summary

The Quartermaster Eatery is seeking a dynamic and experienced Bar Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of both the main floor bar and the speakeasy cocktail bar. This role is responsible for managing a team of bartenders, managing inventory, ensuring the highest standards of service, upholding the quality and presentation of all beverages, ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, and creating a welcoming atmosphere for guests. The Bar Supervisor will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to develop innovative cocktail menus, create a memorable guest experience, and drive sales and profitability. This position requires a strong background in bartending and bar management and keen attention to detail. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in a fast-paced bar environment, the ability to multitask, and a passion for delivering outstanding customer service. This is a full-time, seasonal position with potential for summer and winter employment starting at CAD 18-19 per hour plus tip pool and 4% vacation pay. Roles and Responsibilities


Position Purpose

Oversee the evening operations of the dining room and cocktail bar, collaborating with front-of-house staff to ensure seamless service. The Bar Supervisor is also tasked with creating and developing cocktails, including managing costing and preparation lists. Additionally, they are responsible for conducting bi-weekly liquor inventory.


Responsibilities/Duties/Functions/Tasks

  • Create unforgettable experiences for guests by anticipating their needs, personalizing service, and exceeding expectations.

  • Communicate effectively and efficiently with front-of-house staff and culinary team to ensure seamless coordination between the bar and dining areas and smooth flow of service.

  • Assist the Restaurant Manager and Restaurant Supervisor in ensuring smooth and efficient dinner service.

  • Ensure daily bar prep is completed and plan the preparation of any homemade in-stock tinctures and ingredients.

  • Ensure all silverware, plates, and glassware are clean and polished.

  • Maintain Quartermaster’s high standards for dinner and drink service.

  • Accurately record all alcohol and food orders in the Point of Sales system.

  • Be consistently visible behind the bar or counter to assist guests and support team members.

  • Maintain guest areas through pre-bussing, marking, and clearing according to proper procedures.

  • Create seasonal cocktail menus that adhere to costing guidelines and reflect current trends.

  • Collaborate with the Restaurant Manager and Lodge Manager to accommodate special occasions and events on the lodge side.

  • Conduct bi-weekly inventory of all liquor and provide accurate counts to the Restaurant Manager and Accounting.

  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and organization in all bar areas.

  • Train the front-of-house team in cocktail, liquor, and wine knowledge to enhance their service capabilities.

  • Maintain thorough knowledge of all food, liquor, beer, and wine offerings.

  • Answer questions and provide recommendations for food and drinks.

  • Foster a positive and productive work environment by supporting and mentoring bar staff.

  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies at all times.

  • Assist other team members with tasks beyond front-of-house duties.

  • Adhere to all company and property policies and procedures.

  • Collaborate with the restaurant’s management team to align bar operations with overall restaurant goals and strategies.

Job requirements

Qualifications

  • Serving It Right certification.

  • At least 19 years old.


Special Position Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience as a bartender or bar supervisor in a high-end or upscale restaurant or bar setting.

  • Comprehensive knowledge of cocktails, spirits, wines, and craft beers, with a passion for keeping up with industry trends.

  • Excellent organizational and multitasking skills, with a strong attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively train, inspire, and manage a team.

  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to delivering outstanding guest service.

  • Ability to work flexible hours, including nights, weekends, holidays and overtime as needed.

  • Clean and professional appearance.

Work Requirements

  • Ability to exert physical demands, including sitting, walking, standing, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, twisting, reaching, lifting, carrying, pushing/pulling, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling and tasting or smelling.

  • Ability to regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.

  • Ability to work around kitchen equipment, machinery, chemicals, fire, gasses and odors.

  • Ability to work in extreme temperatures, including walk-in refrigerator/freezer and kitchen line.
