Operations Controller opening

Based at our Crested Butte (CO) hospitality head office, we have an opening for an Operations Controller with 5+ years’ experience. In this position, you will be supporting our hospitality businesses and working with and reporting to the Director of Finance (DF) in Crested Butte, CO and liaising with the off-premise Assistant Financial Controller (AFC) and the Director Corporate Financial Control (DCFC). The Operations Controller will be involved in developing, improving, maintaining and monitoring all administrative and control related processes within the hospitality operations area.


Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Assist the DF in the development of divisional budgets;
  • Develop and implement inventory and cost control procedures;
  • Support and oversee individuals within Operations where it concerns cost and revenue control related aspects such as administrative coding, executing policies and procedures, billing, staff hours, vendor invoice processing etc.
  • Assist the DF with auditing monthly financials;
  • Enforce financial reporting deadlines across multiple business units;
  • Liaise with the AFC and the DCFC regarding operations coding procedures and implementing any revisions thereto;
  • Initiate and implement further improvements to Operations administrative efficiency;
  • Lead on developing and monitoring of all Operations policies and procedures in areas of accounting and reporting.

Requirements

Guidelines – (knowledge, skills and abilities)

  • 5 + years of operational business control experience;
  • Previous experience in hospitality is considered an asset;
  • Solid understanding of accounting and financial reporting;
  • Experience with tying operating metrics to financial results;
  • Strong quanitative analytical skills; able to oversee and tie together multiple hospitality business units;
  • Ability to identify signals of inadequate controls or oddities; 
  • Strong knowledge of MS Excel and generally very evolved computing skills. Experience with hospitality POS- and ERP data systems;
  • Able to maintain clear timelines, follow through and complete tasks timely and completely whilst continuously evaluating priorities;
  • Good project management and organizational skills; 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
